Puppy Cakes for Christmas

Make your own puppy cakes for Christmas! So easy, so simple, and you will have a nice treat to share with the furkids.

Follow this example from @CathyMags. She baked some Christmas dog treats for her Maggie and used K9Cakery's silicone paw shaped baking pan to make the little paws which are the perfect size for a puppy cake!

The dog treats in the middle of the photo are mini dog cupcakes. All are decorated with dog treat icing - Fido's Frosting Royal Icing for Dogs.

These dog cakes are so quick and easy. Use a dog cake mix from K9Cakery or your own dog cake recipe. The cupcakes for dogs will bake within 15-18 minutes. Let them cool and then drizzle some Fido's Frosting on top. You do not have to be a professional cake decorator! Cathy bakes because she loves to and because her pooch loves that she does!

Here are some more Christmas dog treats made by @CathyMags for Maggie:

Show Off Your Dog Business With A Large Dog Cake

Looking for a unique way to show off your dog business? Hold a grand opening, an open house, or celebrate your dog business' anniversary or birthday and serve a beautifully decorated large dog cake like this one from the Coastal K-9 Bakery in Wilmington, NC.

This cake was decorated with Fido's Frosting dog treat icing. "Fido's Frosting is great to work with. I LOVE it. See how pretty it looks. "

A large dog cake is the perfect compliment for a grand opening of a dog business where dogs are invited, for a graduation party from obedience class (where of course everyone will be sitting and waiting to eat their cake when told to), or for a birthday party with a lot of doggie guests.

This silicone cake pan makes baking easy and grease free. All the greasing that is necessary for a metal pan is not needed, which not only cuts down on effort, but can save some calories as well.

Dog lovers even make ice sculptures in the shape of a bone to decorate their grand opening celebrations, which is a novel idea. Make a cake for the human guests as well. It will be "different", and your event will be talked about.

As Marie Antoinette almost said, "Let them eat dog cake."

Gluten Free Dog Treats

Does your dog need to eat gluten free dog treats?

First of all, what exactly is gluten? Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, barley and rye.

Humans who suffer from an intestinal illness called celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten which causes inflammation in the small intestines of these sufferers.

Irish Setters are one dog breed prone to celiac disease.

Some dogs are grain sensitive. Dogs were originally carnivores, but due to the economics of making dog food, grains were introduced to keep the costs down and many low cost dog food is primarily made from grains.

Grain allergies are common in dogs. If your dog is scratching a lot, have him evaluated first by your vet before you diagnose him yourself! There are many reasons why a dog could be scratching.

If your dog does require a gluten free diet and has grain allergies, instead of trying to figure out what is and is not healthy for him, you can use this dog cake mix from K9Cakery.com:

Eggs, fresh fish, meat and chicken, cheese, fruits and vegetables are all gluten-free.

Gluten-free flours include rice flour, potato flour, corn flour, soy flour, and a myriad of flours from lesser-known grains.
